Adoi…who to believe, hah?

by Eyes Wide Open

Same event, vastly different story!

The Star has it that:

He (Chua Soi Lek) told a press conference that he had received a copy of the disciplinary board’s recommendation.

“As a loyal party man, I have to abide by the decision of the disciplinary board and the presidential council,” he said.

Asked if he would appeal against the decision, Dr Chua said he had not thought about it.

Dr Chua said for those who loved MCA, the work had just begun.

“Today is not about Chua Soi Lek. Neither is it about Ong Tee Keat,” he said.

(The Star – “Chua sacked from MCA”)

Sound like the poor guy had resigned himself to his fate, huh? Unless, you’ve read the Malaysian Insider’s report:

Just moments after learning that the disciplinary committee had called for his expulsion tonight, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek stopped short of calling for party members to remove Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat as MCA president but he did call for an uprising.

“I have confidence that MCA members will not let one man destroy the party. It will be a sad day for MCA that if we do not rise to the challenge of saving the party.

“Comrades who love the party will come to realise that it’s time to stand up and unite to save the party. Otherwise, we will soon fade into oblivion,” he said.

(The Malaysian Insider – “Soi Lek Urges MCA members to rise up”)

And it’s also interesting how the exact same quote can be used to give such different meanings::

“Today is not about Chua Soi Lek. Neither is it about Ong Tee Keat,” he said.

The Star gives the impression that he had surrendered to his fate for the larger interest of the party. But in the Malaysian Insider’s report:

“Today, it is not about Chua Soi Lek, nor is it about Ong Tee Keat. It is about MCA, as the second largest component party of BN, still drifting without direction and purpose. It has been more than 16 months since the March 8 general election but there has been little evidence of change.”

He said there had been no closing of ranks while morale remained low and suspicion, the order of the day.

Adoi…what does the Star ever hope to achieve by spinning the story like Chua Soi Lek is surrendering?

It’s not like there are no other news portals around to reveal the truth.

And it’s not like the charade won’t explode with subsequent moves by Chua Soi Lek & gang!

This is the typical mentality of the powers that be – instead of seeing reality as it is, they live in an artificial edifice constructed out of their warped sense of the world and expect others to buy into it!

What’s the word we use to describe people who have an absolute disconnect from reality and living a world that only exists in their mind?

Friend, you forgot to put your byline. EWO izzit?

Anyway, what The Star expediently left out can be read from Dr Chua’s press statement (direct from his own blog; MSM has forgotten about blogosphere, ah?).

It’s not only the “Today, it is not about Chua Soi Lek” bit that The Star shamelessly spun.

The bit “For those of us who love the MCA, our work has just begun” is preceded by this sentence, “Now that I have been suspended, I hope he [OTK] can sleep well. But not all of us have that luxury. For those of us who love the MCA …”

By golly! The Star truly has no shame.

I am not a supporter of anyone because I think all politicians are scum bags.
As for Chua can I ask him a few questions:
What did he do for the Chinese that he represented, during his tenure as a minister ?
Did he ever ask why not a single Director General that runs the daily affairs of all the ministries, when the population of the Chinese is 26% if you can believe the figures ‘given’ or made up by pariah Mahathir to justify his many pro Malays policies !
By the same token how come the MCA did not get 26% of the number of ministers in the cabinet ?
Most important of all aside from Tun Tan Siew Sin which Chinese minister ever held a senior minister position such as finance, home affairs, education just to mention just a few.
No doubt he was quite contended to be a minister himself but please tell us if he ever brought up these questions I just ask.

    kiwi charles,

Good questions………….but it would be better if MCA president OTK (the same one who started the chair throwing fiasco in Flamingo hostel and embarassed MCA) answered your questions.

  6. Star the toilet paper says:

Wonder if Kiwi Charles agree that the Tan Cheng Lock and Tan Siew Sin family started the process of erosion of Chinese rights? Other MCA crooks just continued the process and played along for personal riches. And yet, history book and many Chineses are so stupid to worship and glorify these two. I for one, will spit at their graves.

  7. tony says:

what has he done as a minister? good question there but it seems there is an investigations on about aquiring land for his ministry? anybody knows what happen to the case?

  8. Please allow me make use of your blog to ask OTK a couple of questions :
As Minister of Transport can you please tell us how many taxi permits have you given to the Chinese applications ?
Is it true that the D-G of your ministry has given out most, if not all the taxi permits ?
Your D-G has more right than you have right ?
What have you got to say as a Chinese rep ?
Are you just the figure head there and allow the D-G the right to decide on all the transport policies in the country ?

Well, most of us had yet to realize that we do read and recite well, but not so in understanding the text.
There were outcries against Teresa Kok’s comment on the food served during her ISA detenion as “NOT EVEN FIT FOR DOG’,although “POOR FOOD” was precisely what she mearnt.
So,you don’t blame the MSM as the people there read well, but do not actually comprehend the issues at hand?
Or,they have to act numb and dump.
