Mukhriz Mahathir’s Jew-bashing makes our toes tingle!

By Hartal MSM

Pix above (lifted from FMT): Wow, “humanitarian aid” for Gazans = metal deck chairs??

Double Wow! The 8th wonder of the world … There is actually an alternative media in Malaysia that is telling the other side of the story.

From the fairly new Free Malaysia Today news portal (which has poached a number of Malaysiakini staff);

Excerpts from some of their recent articles:

# 1 Convoy of care or flotilla of fools?

“The Israelis may have been right when they dismissed the so-called humanitarian mission to Gaza as a cheap publicity stunt that had little to do with helping the Gazans, and mostly to do with breaking the maritime blockade imposed by Tel Aviv.

“The Israelis offered to take the aid and distribute it to the Gazans directly …” [Hartal note: Bernama reported Mukhriz Mahathir as saying “he did not fully trust the Israeli regime to be generous enough to allow the supplies on board the seized MV Rachel Corrie aid ship to reach Gaza safely.”]

In the article carried in FMT and written by Joe Fernandez, the writer asked: “What would be Malaysia’s response if a foreign flotilla of ships, led by the Bruno Manser Foundation of Switzerland, were to head towards the Sarawak coast with 10,000 tonnes of medical and food supplies for the starving Penans?” [Hartal note: Joe, don’t forget the tonnes of them metal thingees as shown in the pix above].

# 2 Raid on Gaza aid ship: The Israeli version

“The embassy’s [of Israel in Singapore], deputy chief of mission Idit Abu, lamented the fact that much of the information surrounding the incident was omitted from the local and international media.

“There was footage of Israeli soldiers being attacked by the ship’s passengers when they came on board,” she told FMT in a phone interview yesterday. “The soldiers didn’t open fire until one of them was thrown overboard.” [Note: Hartal earlier posted the Israeli soldier overboard story url here].

“The press presented the incident from a very narrow perspective. The other side of the story took a long time to surface, even on CNN. And I don’t think Al-Jazeera ever portrayed the other side.

“For instance, many Malaysians don’t know that Israel maintains an ongoing humanitarian corridor for the transfer of food and humanitarian supplies to Gaza six days a week. This corridor is used by international organisations including the United Nations and the Red Cross.”

“Furthermore, the crossing on Israel’s side has always remained open. Until last week, the only crossing that was locked and closed was the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian side.”

# 3 Anwar and Pakatan’s tune on Israel

“More disturbing is that while Anwar likes to tout himself as a moderate to his western friends, he is too quick to join in the anti-Israel and Jew-bashing orgy at home. In this respect, Anwar unfortunately doesn’t set himself apart from Umno’s bigotry — he virtually embodies it.

“Pakatan and Anwar, while unlikely to steer away from the Jew-bashing that goes on in our politics, could nevertheless have taken a different tack and brought the public to a more constructive posture vis-à-vis Israel.”

To My Brothers and Sisters in Peace and Solidarity.

First of all the Palestinians have been robbed of their homeland. It’s called Zionism. The Palestinians have been displaced and completely subjugated. Death, untold suffering and destruction accompany the brave Palestinians living under occupation. The Palestinians are the victims!
The peace activists on the Mavi Marmara are civilians. Humanitarian aid workers on a declared/widely publicised peace mission to Gaza. The ninjas repelling from the sky to hijack the aid flotilla in international waters were probably the ‘Sayeret Matkal’-Israeli Special Forces. They are modelled after the British SAS. Their motto is ‘Who Dares Wins’. They are elite soldiers trained to kill and destroy.
Aljazeera accounts witnesses who say that these highly trained soldiers boarded the ship with blazing guns, shooting indiscriminately at unarmed passengers. It is likely that civilians, women and children are afraid of elite commandos rather than the other way around.
Furthermore, The Guardian reported on a shocking revelation that “Each of the nine victims on the Mavi Marmara in international waters off the coast of Israel in the early hours of Monday morning was shot at least once and some five or six times with 9mm rounds”
Therefore, are the detractors saying that international waters also belong to the Zionist state? These activists cannot defend themselves even with sticks against armed to the teeth commandos? Why is it that the death count is only on the civilian side? If someone shoots at you do you just stand there?
And what about the Palestinians? Get rid of one race to make way for another? Demolish Palestinian houses/ appropriate their land to make way for the Zionist state? Don’t make the mistake of confusing Zionism with Jews. There are many Jews in this world who don’t agree. Neturei Karta is one group of Orthodox Jewish Rabbis whom you should take note of. Many more like them… Fyi:

Listen to Rachel Corrie speak two days before she was crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer.

There will be many more activists and aid bound for Gaza according to news reports. Are they all terrorist? Gunning for a fight with elite soldiers? Are we to dismiss all of them as persona non grata?
We must draw from the lessons in history.

    Dear Imran,

Hatred begets anger. Anger begets Violence. Violence begets more violence. An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. We have become a world of blind people cause, ” the Law of the Jungle applies and Might is Always Right “. Don’ have to go far. Just look around you and you will see it everywhere. Are you prepared to stand-up, for what is right that is fair to all or just what you feel is right ?. It’s only when we are
all, fair to each other irrespective of race, religion, cultural practices, etc. etc. that there will be peace on earth. You can’t be selective and cry foul when you are on the receiving end. This unfortunatel, is not a fair world but you can start with the first step with the people close to you. Maybe it will catch on, with the hope that some
day, the senseless killings in the Middle East will come to a close.

    Fairplay.

    Imran,

There are thousands of Malaysian website, blog and Facebook entries already venting against Israel. If you’ll quickly sift through our past postings, you can see that Hartal MSM material is quite focused on media matters and more specifically the bias prevalent in local press.

In this particular issue of the flotilla, we see tremendous gaps in the reporting and information that has been withheld from the Malaysian public. Such one-sidedness will only fuel blind hatred and this outcome is evidenced in the orgy of Israel-bashing that is taking place.

Having the capacity to see more facets to the situation and using wider angle lenses will not take away any sympathy for the Palestinians where their cause is just. Israel’s attack on Gaza in 2008 was, for example, indisputably brutal. So of course we too believe the Palestinians are entitled to a decent life, just as with any other people, including our own marginalized communities and native tribes.

However, this flotilla is showboating and the individual in the person of Matthias Chang is a showboater par excellence — as we know from before with his ‘hunger strike’ stunt after his court conviction and imprisonment.

As our group tagline says — ‘No buy, no lies’; Hence we feel that the media omissions distorting public perception (especially in Malaysia where only one viewpoint sees the light of day) should be countered and the blinkers dispelled.

In the same interest of truth, we also appreciate your measured response and the links you provided to shed light on the larger Middle East conflict as a whole. We do thank you for your input.
