Someone, at least, agrees with Mahathir
Like Mahathir, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad thinks that most people believe the US government staged the September 11 attacks.

The United States led an enraged Western walkout after Ahmadinejad’s comments on the Al-Qaeda attack on the World Trade Center, which was just four miles (six kilometers) from the UN headquarters. European Union delegations quickly followed and Canada [smart of ’em] boycotted the speech even before it started.
The Iranian president said there was a theory that “some segments within the US government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East, in order also to save the Zionist regime.
“The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view,” he declared to the astonished chamber.
In a separate Zionist regime incident, a Jewish reporter recounts how she was thrown out from Ahmadinejad’s press conference:
“Where are you from?” he asked, eyebrows furrowed.
“I’m from New Jersey,” I responded. Which, technically, is true.
“You know that that’s not what I mean,” he said, starting to reach for my press pass around my neck.
How to respond? “The Zionist Entity,” I wondered? Or perhaps “The Zionist Regime”? I stepped away from his hand. “The Jerusalem Post.”
